illowWood's Art Programs are thorough and broad. Our Arts
program goes back many years, includes ceramics, painting, drawing and art
history, and has helped develop gifted artists who've gone on to OCAD
and Fine and Practical Arts programs in colleges and universities.
The Visual Arts program runs across all grades and is seen all over the school - from the painted ceiling panels, to the illuminated letters above our doorways, to the works framed for posterity and presented for display. We also offer a good selection of technology-based arts such as filmmaking, video production and photography. WillowWood artists are given the chance to shine, and they do, brightly.
Our Dramatic Arts program includes regular courses as well as two major productions
each year - the Holiday Happening in the Winter, and The Musical
every Spring. With the addition
of the gymnasium and stage, the event has really blossomed of late, and
WillowWood Musicals are well-attended and well-loved. All students who
wish to participate are welcome - from the onstage divas
to the backstage crew, technicians, photographers,
designers and video-editors, the school bustles with energy and activities
for these productions.
Music is a big part of WillowWood as well - whether it be in the singalongs
at the Lower School monthly assembly or the emerging rock bands playing
at lunch. We offer courses in music to nearly all levels, from recorder
to keyboards to full-bands. The Music Room is always bustling at lunchtime,
and the Lower School Choir has been growing nicely over the last few years.
